To identify previously isolated bacteria which are useful within the Biotechnology Industry.

To detect the production of indole, hydrogen sulphate and acetoin.

To study the use of citrate as the only source of carbon.

To detect the type of cell wall of certain bacteria using chemical lysis techniques.

Can be adapted to O-level, A/AS-level, Science colleges and Universities.

TECHNIQUES

Microbial culture process and qualitative detection of their metabolic by-products.

DURATION

Two 50 minute practice sessions.
