
To establish the existence of matrilineal kinship between a son and two possible biological mothers by analysing part of the HVII hypervariable region of the mitochondrial DNA of the three individuals.

DNA electrophoretic analysis for each sample, which has been previously amplified by PCR and treated with restriction enzymes.
Staining and visualization of DNA bands.
Reading and comparison of different mtDNA sequences.
50-80 minutes plus an additional 50 minute practice session.
